Acts 7:1-8 (Message) read by Mark Beingessner

Acts 7:1-8

Loving Divine Family,

We hear Stephen’s witness and telling of ancient stories in response to claims of blasphemy. His retelling of these stories brings honour to you, as well as to Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebecca, and all who have gone before us. We enter your sacred prayer space seeking your affirmation. Are we also bringing honour to you and our ancestors? You remind us of our reserved place in your courts. When Abraham looked to the stars, we were already among the counted, ordained by you.

Thank you, Yahweh, for this time with you. Thank you that Abraham and Sarah showed us how to trust and obey you. Thank you for the invitation to leave behind the things that hold us back from you and the invitation to follow you. Thank you, the blessings are not just for Abraham and his descendants but for us as well.

I look to the stars and find myself in your ancient stories today, Loving Creator, and thank you for…

How marvellous and wonderful it is to know that in ancient days before we even knew you, our home and identity were already prepared. We are among the stars, descendants of Abraham and Sarah, and your image-bearers. We bow to you and to the Divine Family in each other as we journey together and greet each other in a good way.

With joy we praise you,

Amen!

Cherie and Donovan Mutschler
