Twenty-sixth Week After Pentecost, Friday, November 26, 2021
1 Thessalonians 5:12-22
But we appeal to you, brothers and sisters, to respect those who labor among you, and have charge of you in the Lord and admonish you; esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. And we urge you, beloved, to admonish the idlers, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with all of them. See that none of you repays evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to all. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise the words of prophets, but test everything; hold fast to what is good; abstain from every form of evil.
(New Revised Standard Version)
Loving Divine Family,
We look with nervous anticipation upon the path you have prepared for us and seek your steadfast love and faithfulness. We are excited for the journey ahead. We reflect upon the past and how you have sustained us. You have not let us be put to shame. You taught us your ways and forgot about our shortcomings.
We join with creation, singing,
“This is the day, this is the day, that the LORD has made, that the LORD has made. Let us rejoice, let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Fred Hammond, “This is the Day”)
We receive your love and are at peace with ourselves. We pause in this moment and give thanks for this year and for the journey of Advent that is to come.
I remember your steadfast love and faithfulness, LORD, and thank you for…
Our bags are packed for the Advent journey ahead, Loving Divine Family. We wait on you to guide and sustain us on our journey to your holy mountain. We leave behind all that will weigh us down. Fill us with your love. Fill us with humility and obedience to stay on your path with our eyes always fixed upon you, our loving guide and companion. We anticipate with joy the journey ahead, and seek your steadfast love and faithfulness!
With joy, we praise you!
Amen!
