1 Samuel 2:1-10 (from the New Living Translation) read by Mark Beingessner

1 Samuel 2:1-10

Loving Divine Family,

We enter your sacred prayer space, singing songs of praise and thanksgiving. You have remembered us in times of sickness, sorrow, and loneliness. Your provisions are fresh every morning; you respond new each day to our needs. You have never turned us away empty. We have seen the way others, who have no regard for you, seem to prosper. But here, in this holy place with you, we are once again filled with the harvest of your promises.

O LORD, our God, you created the heavens and the earth. Our hearts rejoice in you. Thank you for fulfilling your promises. Thank you for hearing the cries of our hearts. Praise to you; your ways are not our ways. You lift up the lowly and tear down the tyrant. In you, we find our strength.

I remember your promises for me today, O Yahweh, and thank you for…

Protect us from our expectations of ourselves, others, and creation. Give us your guidance to respond with your love and grace when we let ourselves down, when others desert us, or when harvest never seems to bring enough grain into the bins. We look to you and give thanks; for your love endures forever.

With joy, we praise you!
