All praise and glory to you, LORD! You have taught us how to seek solitude to pray with you! In your sacred prayer space, you show us your new ways and encourage us to step out of the chains of old ways that serve only to bind us. Though we resist you, your love and patience surround us so we may listen and understand, so we may be prepared for what you are calling us to.
We walk together from your Beautiful Gate into the quiet gardens beyond the city walls. We seek a place of prayer. We find you here in this sacred prayer space, not unlike the place where Lydia was waiting for you. As we listen to your wisdom, you remind us that your message is for all who will listen. You encourage us to tell the story of your loving ways wherever we go.
Today, we invite you to ‘Reread, Rest and Reflect’ on the prayers of the past week.
Lectionary Readings for Today:
We celebrate the kindness you have shown to all creation, Mighty Yahweh. Your gentleness and mercy are all around us. Guide us, so we will continue to learn and practice your honourable ways in all we do.
In the shelter, in the darkness and safety of your protection, we sing together; we sing hymns of praise and hope to you, Almighty God. Though we feel threatened and pressed, you are covering us and holding out evil. We forever sing to you, Sovereign LORD.
Oh LORD of Hosts, All-powerful God, you know us so well and care for every little detail. Thank you for the blessings you have given us so far. Thank you that your words are true and that you fulfill your promises to us. You have been in our midst and in the mess of our lives. You never abandon us. Thank you for the promises of blessings for us, our families, and our communities. With joyful hope we wait for you.
