Luke 8:22-25
Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy people who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to invite good people but sinners to change their hearts and lives.”
(New Century Version (NCV))
Inspire us to walk out your dreams for us. When others see us living for you and seeking your heart, stir in them the desire to know you more. We seek you in the stillness of this quiet place and celebrate your presence with us.
We enter your sacred prayer space at the prompting of our hearts telling us to come worship you. Being here with you, this is what we have been seeking; we long to dwell with you in your house, to see your beauty and seek you in your temple. We have looked for you more than those who watch for the morning.
We enter your sacred prayer space to draw near to you. We feel you draw near to us. We lift our arms to you; like children seeking your embrace, we reach out to you. You look upon us with a Creator’s affection for their creation. You embrace and hold us close. Guard our hearts and mouths today, so all our thoughts, feelings, words, and actions will be pleasing to you.
We enter your sacred prayer space concerned about the decisions we need to make and the unknown barriers along your path. We see the sick, old and dying, and are surprised at their faith through trials. We fear we cannot make the decision to leave behind our idols and household gods so we can follow you with our whole hearts. The thought of walking away from all we love seems so impossible. But you remind us, once again, that all things are possible for you.
Today, we invite you to reread, rest and reflect on the prayers of the past week.
Lectionary Readings for Today:
Psalm 113:1-9
Isaiah 5:8-23
Mark 12:41-44
