Cleanse and purify us, O Yahweh. Hear our prayers and desires for ourselves and others as we cry to you. Throw your mercy around us, a robe of pure forgiveness and mercy. Keep our eyes from idols and false teachings. We seek to follow you all of our days.
Thank you, LORD, for being in our midst and guiding us in our past, present, and future. No matter where we are in the stages of life, you are filling us with hope that the best is yet to come. Thank you for the invitation to lift ourselves and others up in prayer. Thank you for your current blessings and for the blessings to come.
We walk together from your Beautiful Gate into the quiet gardens beyond the city walls. We seek a place of prayer. We find you here in this sacred prayer space, not unlike the place where Lydia was waiting for you. As we listen to your wisdom, you remind us that your message is for all who will listen. You encourage us to tell the story of your loving ways wherever we go.
We enter your sacred prayer space to draw near to you. We feel you draw near to us. We lift our arms to you; like children seeking your embrace, we reach out to you. You look upon us with a Creator’s affection for their creation. You embrace and hold us close. Guard our hearts and mouths today, so all our thoughts, feelings, words, and actions will be pleasing to you.
We celebrate and seek you alone, O LORD. Keep us from falling into the temptations of fame and fortune. Burn false, household gods before us so we will remember you. We remember to remember who we are and where we come from, and we glorify you.
We enter your sacred prayer space seeking your affirmation. So many in our world have lost sight of you and your ways. They call upon you to fight their battles but will not yield to you. They treat you like a genie in a bottle who should do their will. But you embrace us, reminding us that you count us among your children and have not forgotten your promise to never leave us.
