Proverbs 24:23-34
John 5:39-47
You have called us together in community. Being hosts and guests for each other is hard work. But in communion with each other, we find that many hands make light work. Even more, when we have spent time with you in your sacred prayer space, we receive your guidance to greet each other in a good way.
Today, we invite you to reread, rest and reflect on the prayers of the past week.
Lectionary Readings for Today:
Psalm 90:1-8, 12
Ezekiel 7:10-27
Matthew 12:43-45
Thank you, loving God, for breathing life into us. Thank you for your words of wisdom that give us energy and strength. Thank you for our friends, mentors, guides, and community who are imitators of Christ. They bring us hope, joy, and honour.
Thank you, you long to be in a relationship with us. We hear the invitation to love you and share your lovingkindness and mercy with our children, family, and those who come into our lives.
Your guidance brings wisdom and peace. We are challenged on all sides to follow folly. We feel tempted to defend ourselves and others, to lash out in anger. We feel tempted to force our assumptions and agendas. But with you, in your sacred prayer space, you repair our hurtful attitudes. You protect us from these temptations and provide a path of peace.
Loving Yahweh, you desire an intimate relationship with us, as opposed to a transactional relationship requiring sacrifices. You want us to give mercy to others and for us to acknowledge you. Our hope is in you. You see through our facade. Thank you for the prophets, friends, and community you provide who call us back to you.
