We close the book on this liturgical year, O LORD, with the joy and celebration that you have been with us each step of the way. We bow down in worship and adoration, knowing that only you are the source of blessing. Only you have claimed us as your children. Great are you, LORD, and worthy of our praise!
We, your humble servants, come to spend time with you. Thank you, loving, merciful Yahweh, for hearing our prayers and petitions. Thank you for looking upon us with favour. We are grateful that you forgive us; you hear us and you act accordingly.
We enter your sacred prayer space, carefully recalling all we have seen and heard. We approach the end of another liturgical year, as the Season of Advent quickly approaches. We reflect on your presence with us throughout our journey. You have never left us. You have brought us safely home.
We the thirsty and hungry, come to you. You have provided your living water for us to be truly satisfied. We want for nothing. Let everything that has life and breath praise you. Let all created things sing songs of life and praise to you. Let the rocks cry out your name in thanksgiving!
In this quiet time, we seek your loving gaze and cherish this time with you. Thank you for the blessings you shower us with. You created the earth and everything in it. You are mighty and powerful; yet, you are mindful of us. We choose you; we seek you; we love you.
We enter your sacred prayer space as sheep of your flock who are coming home. We were once scattered throughout the lands, but you called us to return to you. Our ancestors were driven from their comfort and depended on you in foreign lands. We learned from them how to trust in you. Now, in your perfect timing, you have returned us to you, as an answer to their prayers and your promise.
Today, we invite you to reread, rest and reflect on the prayers of the past week.
Lectionary Readings for Today:
Psalm 46:1-11
Jeremiah 22:18-31
Luke 18:15-17
We have seen your glory in our lives, LORD. You have shown us your face and continue to refine us through our trials. You have not let us perish. We shout for joy and sing praises to you as we journey together on this earth. We know that this present joy will remain and be multiplied when our earthly lives are stripped away. Salvation is yours, Sovereign LORD.
Thank you, Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, for being our sacrifice and entering the Most Holy Place, to appear for us in God’s presence. Thank you; your blood cleanses us from all unrighteousness, and consecrates us. Thank you, Jesus, for interceding on our behalf and defending us against the accuser.
