Psalm 126:1-6
When the LORD brought the prisoners back to Jerusalem,
it seemed as if we were dreaming.
Then we were filled with laughter,
    and we sang happy songs.
Then the other nations said,
“The LORD has done great things for them.”
The LORD has done great things for us,
    and we are very glad.

LORD, return our prisoners again,
as you bring streams to the desert.
Those who cry as they plant crops
    will sing at harvest time.
Those who cry
as they carry out the seeds
will return singing
    and carrying bundles of grain.
(New Century Version (NCV))

Loving Divine Family,

You have done great things for us, and we are very glad. We enter your holy prayer space today with thanksgiving in our hearts, for we were once held prisoner by this world. But you are the creator of all things and are not bound by the things of this world. You have placed us on your path of peace to lead us back to you.

O LORD our God, our provider, we are tired and worn out. The noise from the world is telling us to buy, to do more, to be more. Here we are again in Advent, journeying to Jesus. We take our eyes off our circumstances and look to you. We join creation, singing “O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant. O come, ye, o come ye to Bethlehem” (John Francis Wade, Frederick Oakly, translator).

I feel freedom on your path of peace today, Loving Yahweh, and thank you for…

We have felt the emptiness of the world, O Yahweh, but you fill us with your lovingkindness. We have felt the grief of loss and loneliness, but you comfort us. We have felt the fear and anxiety of uncertainty of the future for ourselves and our children, but you give us your promises of peace. Though we have cried, you turn our shouts of lament into celebration. May your praise be ever on our lips.

With joy we praise you!

Amen!
