Luke 19:41-44

As Jesus came near Jerusalem, he saw the city and cried for it, saying, “I wish you knew today what would bring you peace. But now it is hidden from you. The time is coming when your enemies will build a wall around you and will hold you in on all sides. They will destroy you and all your people, and not one stone will be left on another. All this will happen because you did not recognize the time when God came to save you.”

(New Century Version (NCV))

Loving Divine Family,

How many times have we entered your sacred prayer space only to sit distracted throughout our time together, and then to go about our day without giving a thought to the wisdom you shared with us? We forget so quickly that we succeed only when we journey with you. Oh, how you must weep for us when you see the unnecessary peril we fall into because we forget about you.

Oh Lord, so often we do not think about how you cry for us because we do not hear your love and wisdom, and do not receive all you have for us. May we hear your voice and obey you so we may live lives of peace and wisdom in your loving protection. Thank you for being vulnerable and feeling the pain of rejection and sorrow and sharing your tears with us.

I return to your embrace today, LORD, and thank you for…

We pause to hear you calling to us, LORD. May we listen and obey your wisdom before peril overcomes us. You know better than we do. You know the way we should go. We step once again onto your path, trusting in your never-failing mercy.

With joy we praise you!
