Luke 5:27-32
After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector named Levi sitting in the tax collector’s booth. Jesus said to him, “Follow me!” So Levi got up, left everything, and followed [Jesus].

Then Levi gave a big dinner for Jesus at his house. Many tax collectors and other people were eating there, too. But the Pharisees and the men who taught the law for the Pharisees began to complain to Jesus’ followers, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy people who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to invite good people but sinners to change their hearts and lives.”
(New Century Version (NCV))

Loving Divine Family,

We enter your sacred prayer space as sinners. We have not followed your wisdom. We have not listened to your wise Elders. We have not remembered to remember and give thanks to you. Though we are here with you, we sit silent and ashamed. But you call us by name and invite us to draw near, to participate in your mystery.

Thank you, loving Divine Family, for the invitation to be in relationship with you. We join you as we respond to the call to follow you. We close our ears to the voices who are judging us, and we focus on you, our Great Physician.

I draw near to you today, Loving Saviour, and thank you for…

Your invitation to participate in your mystery fills us with joy! You are our strength and lift us out of our shame. You place us on a new path filled with new opportunities to follow and learn from you. We hear you telling of your love for us, and gleefully begin our journey today.

With joy we praise you!
