We enter your sacred prayer space as equals with each other. We are just people, but you, Loving Creator, have called us to join in community to support and encourage each other. Your word speaks through those in our community who are obedient to your voice. Open our ears so we may hear your call for us today.
All praise and glory to you, LORD! You have taught us how to seek solitude to pray with you! In your sacred prayer space, you show us your new ways and encourage us to step out of the chains of old ways that serve only to bind us. Though we resist you, your love and patience surround us so we may listen and understand, so we may be prepared for what you are calling us to.
Loving Divine Family,
We enter your sacred prayer space feeling quanked (overpowered by fatigue) from the busy-ness of our schedules and from pouring into others out of a sense of duty. We seek rest and energy, and protection from the demands of others. In your wise compassion, Life-giving Spirit speaks to us, bringing nourishment and reassurance. You remind us of your messages through wise Elders you have placed in our lives, and we feel peace and energy return to us.
Today, we invite you to ‘Reread, Rest and Reflect’ on the prayers of the past week.
Lectionary Readings for Today:
I hear the angels singing your praises, LORD, and thank you for…
We are at peace in your mystery. We hear the call of your angels as they tend to us. We follow the messages of the angels and your wise Elders, and trust in your mercy. Give us strength and assurance to listen and respond to your call.
Loving Divine Family,
We come to your Beautiful Gate to pray with you. We greet each other in a good way and celebrate how we see you in each other. We see you moving and healing in our midst and join in the celebration. We rejoice in how so many are trusting in you.
I remember to remember your tender mercies today, Loving Yahweh, and thank you for…
We choose to walk in your light today, giving thanks and praise. Fill us with your breath so we can sing, rejoice, give thanks, and praise with a newfound joy.
Thank you, Life-giving Spirit, for gently speaking to us and nudging us to let go of doing things our own way. Thank you for reminding us we are your beloved children. We stay close to you, so when we start to do things our own way, we hear your loving voice reminding us to walk in peace, patience, and love instead of vengeance and violence. We remember that you are the shepherd and you remain close to us, your sheep.
Open our eyes to the dangers around us. Open our ears to the wise Elders you have sent to us. Open our hearts to feel compassion for those in our care. Give us all we need to build shelters and protection for all you have entrusted to us.
Yahweh, we confess we want to hoard, to get revenge, to judge, and to retaliate against those who hurt us or who are different from us. In the quiet stillness of this space, we hear you call us your Beloved. Thank you for showing kindness and mercy to us and your creation. Thank you for gently reminding us to use our words and actions to bless and not to curse others.
