ur forgiveness is true and complete. You call us your blessed children; you lovingly call our names. You instruct us once again in the way we should go. We seek to understand your ways. With all our faith in you, we step forward on the path you have chosen for us. We journey together once again with you and each other in a good way.
Thank you, Loving Yahweh, for the instructions to test the spirits to make sure they are from you, and to be aware of who we are listening to. Thank you we are your dear children, who you love, and that we come from you. Thank you, you are with us and never abandon us. Thank you that you are greater than the Father of Lies. We receive your truth that we are loved.
We enter your sacred prayer space seeking your wise guidance for the day. We want to journey on your path with confidence, but we often feel we are not ready. Do we have what it takes to succeed? Your voice is an echo through the valley where we find ourselves. Like a loon in the darkness of midnight you let us know you are here with us. You call us into the misty fog of early morning. Though we cannot see, we know you are guiding us.
Ninth Week after Pentecost, Saturday, August 13, 2022
Today, we invite you to reread, rest and reflect on the prayers of the past week.
Lectionary Readings for Today:
1 Samuel 6:1-16
You are our refuge and strength, a present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not be moved when the storms and hardships of life press in all around us. Be our strong foundation and lighthouse in the storms. Reassure and guide us. Push back the darkness with your light so we can faithfully journey together and greet each other in a good way along your path.
Loving Yahweh, hear the cries of our hearts. Defend and protect the poor, needy, and parentless. Destroy the gods and idols that hold us back from being who you created us to be. Arise, O God, we turn to you.
We enter your sacred prayer space with thanksgiving in our hearts. You welcome us with a loving embrace. These arms that have crushed kingdoms and moved the earth for our sake are so gentle and loving. No other can love us like you. You are the source of all love and goodness, of all that is, has been, and ever will be.
We are continuously challenged by the deceiver who tells us we are useless and unimportant, that we do not belong here. Give us faith to believe that you have gifted us with our abilities to remain here in your presence. Give us understanding that you have called us to your purpose, and faith to remain on your ancient path.
We, your faithful people, quiet ourselves so we can hear you. We remember to remember the people of faith from old and new to hear their stories that spur us on to believe and hope for you and your promises. We truly want to find you. Our hearts desire is to step out in faith with you.
We enter your sacred prayer space, seeking your affirmation. You welcome us and invite us to listen to your amazing plans for us. We cannot fathom what we hear. Your goals for us seem so grand and far-reaching. How can we ever attain your goals? We feel so ill-equipped. But you remind us of your blessings to Abraham and Sarah; how, in your time, you provided everything they needed to fulfil your promises, and their part was to follow your guidance with faith and obedience.
