“1 Samuel 16:1-13 (Good News Translation)” by Connie Beingessner.

1 Samuel 16:1-13

Loving Divine Family,

We gather in peaceful places; we seek you on quiet hillsides. We are both shepherds and sheep. We reflect on the beauty of your creation. You alert us to dangers, both physical and spiritual. We sense you are caring for us as we care for your creation and each other.

Ever-present God, we, your Beloved, cherish your sacred prayer space. You provide and care for the welfare of your people. Thank you that your ways are not our ways, and that you make decisions based on the character of the person and not what the world uses to make decisions. We listen carefully for your voice, so we can follow you.

I follow your peaceful lead today, Good Shepherd, and thank you for…

Reassure us when we doubt our own abilities. Encourage us that you do not need the strongest, tallest, smartest, or fastest for your design to be revealed through us. May we always be after your heart, and be ready when you call us to serve.

With joy we praise you!

Amen!

Cherie and Donovan Mutschler
